ANGLICAN HERITAGE
I have Anglican whakapapa (heritage) through both of my parents.
On my mother's side, I am a descendant of Wiremu Tamihana. On my father's side, I am a descendant of Retimana Te Korou. Both of these rangatira (chiefs) were baptised by Anglican missionaries and remained staunch to their faith for the rest of their lives.
Through my Elers ancestry, I am a descendant of Reverend Carew Elers. He was the vicar of Bickenhill and the Domestic Chaplain of HRH Duke of Clarence who became King William IV.
I have many familial connections to Anglican clergy. Read about my Anglican ancestors and relations below.

I have relations here in New Zealand who have served the Anglican Church as clergy members, including Reverend Bob Emery (my mother's uncle), Reverend Peter Tauwhare (my father's cousin), and Reverend Roger Maaka (my father's cousin and a descendant of the Elers family).
