TE KĪNGITANGA
As part of the clergy participating in the karakia service at TŪRANGAWAEWAE MARAE for the KORONEIHANA 2023.
It is imperative that Raukawa ki te Tonga Trust strengthens and revitalises the relationship with the KĪNGITANGA. Ko Tainui te waka: He waka kotahi tātou; he iwi kotahi tātou.
On the left is the current TUMUAKI of the Māori King movement, HONE THOMSON, with MAMAE TAKEREI (a senior authority in the KĪNGITANGA). Mamae is my PhD student. The Tumuaki (Hone Thomson) and I are both descendants of WIREMU TAMIHANA (the first KINGMAKER who crowned PŌTATAU TE WHEROWHERO as the first Māori King). My great grandfather was PARIRAU TANGIMOANA RAKATAU, a great grandson of WIREMU TAMIHANA.
