RESEARCHER/ACADEMIC
I am an Associate Professor of Communication at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, and have previously taught at Massey University and the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand.
I hold a doctorate (PhD) and three master’s degrees, along with additional postgraduate qualifications in education and theology.
In 2017, I was appointed to the Registration Panel of the Education Council of Aotearoa New Zealand (now the Teaching Council). A few years later, the Hon Chris Hipkins (then Minister of Education) appointed me to the Council’s Competency Authority.
My research spans both academia and applied community contexts. Outside the university, I have conducted projects for iwi, government, and NGOs — including serving as Senior Māori Research Insights Advisor at the Evidence Based Policing Centre, New Zealand Police National Headquarters.
