REVEREND EDWARD ELERS
The connection between Reverend Edward Henry Elers (1836-1915) and myself is shown in the whakapapa below.
Reverend Edward Henry Elers was from an aristocratic pedigree. Although his great, great, grandfather was German, Reverend Edward Elers' great grandmother was Dorothy Carew of Carew Castle, Pembrokeshire. Accordingly, Reverend Edward Elers was a direct descendant of King Edward 1. The Elers family are mentioned in several books about the Royal family lineage. As an example, here is an extract from the Burke 1851 book on the Royal family genealogy. Here is a different extract from another book. Reverend Edward Elers' great grandmother (Mary Elers nee Charon or Charron) was from a French Huguenot family. Huguenots were French Protestant Christians.
VICAR OF BOLDRE
Reverend Edward Elers graduated from the University of Oxford. He was vicar of Boldre from 1875 until 1912. He took over from his uncle Reverend Charles Shrubb who died in 1875. Reverend Charles Shrubb was also an Elers because his mother was Charlotte Shrubb (nee Elers). Reverend Charles Shrubb and Reverend Edward Elers had together a span of 95 years as incumbents at Boldre.
Reverend Edward Elers' brother Frederick Wadham Elers became the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, a town in Kent, England.
